Microblading: Frequently Asked Questions

Microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where tiny strokes are applied to the brows for more definition, makeup can be used on them as usual, but they will last about three years.

What Is Microblading?

There are some similarities between microblading and standard tattoos, namely that both involve pigment being inserted into the skin at a depth below the surface. The main difference is that micro bladed brows are drawn on with person-specific pigments matched to each person’s skin tone and hair colour.

This results in realistic-looking brows that require no daily upkeep like make-up. For most people, their only need would be an occasional touchup every three or four years or so (results vary per person).

The result is a shaped brow that can be symmetrical or asymmetrical, depending on your natural shape. Because the pigment is inserted beneath the surface of the skin, it will fade gracefully over time like fine wrinkles or lines. This ensures that you maintain beautifully defined brows without looking unnatural or overly tattooed at any age.

Microblading FAQs

What is microblading? How does it work? Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattoo artistry where tiny strokes are applied to mimic real eyebrow hairs. How long does it take to have eyebrows done by the microblading method? It takes about two hours for each session and three sessions are required on average for best results.

Are permanent eyebrows safe?

Yes, they are very safe. The pigment used in the microblading procedure is approved by the FDA for cosmetic use on skin and is completely natural and certified organic.

It is hypoallergenic and does not contain any harsh chemicals or toxic elements which make it less damaging to your skin compared to other popular options like permanent makeup, bioplastics, fibreglass or silicon-based fillers.

Plus, because of its water-soluble nature, it will begin to fade over time just like normal hair that sheds out naturally from your body. This also ensures a more natural appearance since you’re not lasered off a piece of synthetic material embedded into the depth of your skin forever…

What little discomfort can be expected?

Most people don’t experience much discomfort at all, but since it involves disrupting the nerve endings in your skin with a needle, there is always some degree of pain.

It ranges from person to person and can easily be remedied with topical anesthetic creams available over the counter like Emla Cream ( lidocaine-prilocaine cream), EMLA or LMX 5 (lidocaine/tetracaine). Some clients even opt for oral medication like Tylenol PM for greater relief.

How do microblading sessions work?

The first step is for you to undergo a consultation session where you will discuss your desired result with us. From there we’ll choose the right pigment colour that best suits your skin tone and hair colour (for the strokes) and natural brow colour (for the powder). After that, we’ll show you how to best maintain your new eyebrows at home.

The initial session will take about two hours while subsequent sessions are usually about one hour long.

What results can I expect?

Microblading is semi-permanent tattoo artistry so it will last several years! As with any semi-permanent make-up procedure performed on the face, results vary from person to person but you should typically see full results within 6 months.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading is semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing so results can last anywhere from 1 to 5 years depending on various factors like skin type, lifestyle choices, amount of exercise, tanning, stress levels and how well you maintain your routine at home.

Typically speaking though, because the pigment is inserted beneath the surface of the skin, it will fade gracefully over time like fine wrinkles or lines to ensure that you maintain beautifully defined brows without looking unnatural or overly tattooed.

What are some common side effects?

Some common side effects include tenderness, swelling, redness and/or bleeding which should completely resolve in 1-2 weeks post-treatment.

Also note that because we’re using tiny needles for this procedure, there may be small hemorrhages (pinpoint spots of blood) within the first few days after treatment but these usually go away on their own. What happens to my follow up appointment?

During your follow up session, we will assess your brows and go over how you’ve been caring for them. If they’re looking good, we may skip your next session to allow time for the existing strokes to fade more naturally before having another treatment.

What colours are used during a microblading appointment?

During a microblading session, two shades of colour are used: one darker pigment shade is applied to create defined strokes while a lighter powder shade is used as a subtle filler.

The best colour choice depends on various factors like skin tone/hair colour, current eyebrow shape and desired result so we should determine this during your complimentary consultation which takes about 20 minutes.

Why do I need three sessions?

Since results from microblading are semi-permanent, it’s important to allow enough time for the pigment to fade naturally throughout several sessions. This ensures that you maintain beautifully defined brows without looking unnatural or overly tattooed.

It also allows us time to perfect your desired shape and colour so you get exactly what you want!

Will microblading hurt?

Some people experience more discomfort than others during any cosmetic procedure due to differences in pain tolerance, but most clients describe feeling a slight prickling sensation while we draw on their brows which typically subsides shortly after beginning since topical anesthetic creams are applied before treatment.

Most clients who are taking oral medication find that Tylenol PM works best for them while others prefer Emla cream the night before to numb the brows.

How much does microblading cost?

The price for a single session is $300 which includes our complimentary consultation. Additional sessions are an additional $150 each since we need at least three sessions to achieve your desired result.

Since pigments fade gracefully over time, it’s important to schedule follow up appointments every 6-12 months so let us know if you’re interested in setting up a package deal discount because this helps save money in the long run! For more related articles, click on microblading how much.
